Modern cyber incidents are complex, rapidly occurring and evolving, and occasionally cross-border. Effective response hinges on trust and collaboration across public and private sectors – not just technical readiness.

This fire-side chat will explore how incident response works in practice by offering case-studies and will include an open discussion with the audience on how public-private collaboration can shape handling of cyber incidents.

Senior Malware Researcher, ESET

Jakub Souček is a Senior Malware Researcher at ESET with over 10 years of experience in the field. He currently leads ESET’s eCrime research team focused on combating ransomware. He has also coordinated botnet disruption collaboration efforts with external partners and law enforcement, and has experience with APT research as well. In addition, he focuses on in-depth analysis of malware and long-term tracking of prevalent malware families. 

He regularly presents at both local and international conferences. His past speaking engagements include conferences such as Virus Bulletin, Underground Economy, EC3 Cybercrime Conference, and Botconf.

Head of Sector Operational Cooperation, Local Cybersecurity Officer (LCO), CERT-EU

As Head of Sector for the Operational Cooperation Team of CERT-EU, Alexandros Goniadis oversees crisis management and coordination, collaboration with private and public peers and partners, international affairs, security policy and cyber exercises. He is also the Local Cybersecurity Officer of CERT-EU, overseeing compliance with Regulation 2023/2841. He is an ICT lawyer by training, living in disguise among the tribe of engineers, and is dedicated to bridging the gap between technical, operational, and strategic domains throughout the ranks of CERT-EU with pride. 

He is an alumnus of DG CNECT cyber team BEUC – The European Consumer Organisation. Alex studied law in Greece, France, the Netherlands and Belgium and has been a passionate Bruxellois for more than 10 years.
